Jr.Kg  – September  2016

Theme for the month: Exploring the Water World

Animals around the world live in a variety of habitats based on their needs and behavioural tendencies. Some may choose to live in water rather than on land, from hot deserts to shaded and damp forests, ponds or even deep ocean waters. Thus it is important to make the preschoolers aware of their surroundings and the animals that live in these areas.

The goal of the theme ‘Exploring the Water World’ is to help your child to learn about different sea creatures such as whales, dolphins and sharks. He or she will also learn about certain adaptations which help them to survive in the environment e.g. their way of communication with others, how they use their senses to escape from predators and so on. Some amazing facts about various sea creatures will also be discussed in the classrooms to make their learning more interesting.

He or she will begin to develop a sense of responsibility for the oceans and the animals that live there. Above all, this theme will inculcate in students an appreciation and respect for all living creatures and stimulate their interest in conserving the water world around them.

Effective usage of Audio Visual learning, technology, art and craft and Role plays will be used as the methodology.

Language:

Your child will learn the letters ‘Mm’, ‘Dd’, ‘Gg’, and ‘Oo’ with their phonic sounds, how to blend and read 3 letter words and tricky words:my,be,we,was,to. Along with these, various activities like rhymes, stories, show and tell, picture talks, book browsing and newspaper reading will be done on a regular basis.

Do reinforce the use of tricky words: me, go, no. By reading story books and making your home a print rich space, you will improve your child’s ability to master new learning.

Numeracy:

There will be a progression in numerals, concepts of colours and shapes.
