International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)

IGCSE Course

The Universal School offers the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) course for grade 9 and 10 students. This programme is provided by the University of Cambridge Assessment  International Education (CAIE). The two-year IGCSE programme is the world’s most popular international programme for 14-16-year-olds. It develops students’ skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem-solving skills, giving them excellent preparation for their next steps in education.

At the beginning of the 2-year IGCSE programme, learners are guided to choose subjects from 5 core subject groups. Many subject choices are available, offering a variety of routes for learners of different abilities. We offer subjects like English Language, Hindi, French, Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Studies, Accounting, ICT.

The IGCSE course is predominantly exam-based. Cambridge IGCSE assessment takes place at the end of the course and includes written, oral, coursework and practical assessments.

Grades are benchmarked using eight internationally recognized grades, A* to G, which have clear guidelines to explain the standard of achievement for each grade. Students select their courses at the beginning of grade 9 and are expected to sit for IGCSE exams in Feb-March or May of Grade 10.
