Terry Fox Donation Drive

Dear Parent,

It gives us immense satisfaction to share with you that, once again this year, we are participating in the Terry Fox Run, being held on Sunday, 2nd February 2020 in our city for school children. The initiative is in the memory of Terrance Stanley, a Canadian athlete who initiated this marathon in 1980, at the age of 18, after being diagnosed with bone cancer. With one leg amputated, he embarked on a cross Canada run to raise money and awareness for cancer research. The spread of cancer eventually forced him to end his quest after 143 days and 5373 kms and ultimately cost him his life. However, his efforts resulted in a lasting worldwide legacy and are now the World’s largest one day fundraiser for cancer research.

We, at Universal, believe that children form ideas about who they are and how they fit into the world around them early in life. The attitudes and skills needed to make the world a better place to live in, need to be encouraged and developed from an early age. We conduct several activities, organize many events and take part in many global events in this pursuit of ours. Participation in the Terry Fox run and raising funds for cancer research is also a part of this endeavor.

We appeal to all our parents to help us in raising funds for this noble and worthy cause and donate generously.

Contributions can be sent by DD or by cheque favoring ‘Tata Memorial Hospital’.

Please write your name, address, and phone no. on the back of the cheques / DD to avail 80G benefits. Please attach a xerox of the donor’s PAN card for the donation of Rs.5000/- and above.

Last day/date of submission

Kindly submit the cheque/ DD in a sealed envelope on or before 17th January 2020 in the school office from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 pm.

Together in the cause of quality education.
